Overview

Ghorepani Poon hill trekking is one of the most scenics, well-known Panoramic trekking destination lies in the western part of Nepal. The beautiful panoramic views of the mountains, Glaciers, Rivers, rare vegetations, culture etc are the silent features of Ghorepani trek. The trek is popular not only for the altitude trek but also for an opportunity to witness the ancient culture of  the brave, culturally and morally sound indigenous community known as “Gurungs” and “Magars” .For a few days due, its natural abundance, biodiversity, culture, and the mountains you will forget every single of your stress and have fun with nature.

It provides a classical view of the Annapurna range and other mountains like Nilgiri, Machhapuchre,Himchuli etc. Trails of this trek passes through incredible and beautiful, dense rhododendron forest along with other flora and fauna. Abrupt variation in the altitude also makes this trek very interesting. The hill point provide the majestic view of the mountain range as the sun hits the Annapurna range early morning. It is a perfect trek to view the mesmerizing mountain range and to know the culture , tradition and the livelihood of the indigenous community.

Outline Itinerary

Day 01:- Arrival at Kathmandu airport (1,345m) overnight at a hotel with Bed & Breakfast plan.

Day 02:- Sightseeing in Kathmandu valley.

Day 03:- Drive to Pokhara (700m) 6 hrs drive by tourist Bus. Overnight at the hotel with B&B plan.

Day 04:- Sightseeing in Pokhara city.

Day 05:- Drive to Nayapul 2 hours by private transportation and trek from Nayapul to Ulleri (1960m) 5/6 hrs walking. Overnight at guesthouse.

Day 06:- Trek from Ullieri to Ghorepani (2,75om) 5/6 hrs walking. Overnight at guesthouse.

Day 07:- Early morning hike up to Poon hill and trek to Tadapani (2,590) 5/6 hrs walking. Overnight at guesthouse.

Day 08:- Trek from Tadapani to Ghandruk (1,900m) 3 hrs walking. Overnight at guesthouse.

Day 09:- Trek from Ghandruk to Nayapul and drive back to Pokhara (700m) 2 hrs drive. Overnight at the hotel with B&B plan.

Day 10:- Sightseeing and relaxing day in Pokhara.

Day 11:- Drive to Kathmandu by Tourist Bus (6/7) hour’s drive to Kathmandu and your farewell dinner in Kathmandu. Overnight at the hotel with B&B plan.

Day 12: Transfer to international airport for your final departure.

Physical fitness

Annapurna region trek is for those who are physically fit and can walk for hours to reach their destination. It is the moderate trek that takes you to the Beautiful Annapurna vicinity after some hours of a walk down to the moderate paths. As some of the places lies in higher altitude, one needs to be physically fit and healthy. Before planning for trekking to Annapurna region, you need to check your physical condition by consulting your physician. Similarly, handling the low air pressure, high winds and low temperatures and also practicing to carry the weight can help you through the trip.

Lodging and food

We will be greeting you at International airport and make your stay possible at one of the 3-star hotels in the town. While you are on the Trek to the base camp, you will be staying at the Teahouses/Lodge. The stay may be twin sharing or single(depends on what you want and it is difficult to find a separate bedroom at high above). Likewise, Access the Asia will take you to the best possible place where you can enjoy the hygienic Nepali as well as International food. Accommodation with breakfast, lunch and dinner at different areas during trekking and in camping as per the holiday plan will be provided. For the Lunch and Dinner, while staying at Kathmandu, you are responsible for the payment. There will be the farewell dinner with every guest after they return from their Trek.

Best Time to travel

February to Mid June, September – Mid December is the best for climbing up the Base Camp.

Dec & January are cold which can be snowy, July and August are rainy time, trekking can be done, but visibility can be weak due to rain.

Transport

Generally, we offer tourist bus for Trekking to Annapurna region which may take 6 to 8 hours. If you want to travel in private vehicles then we can make it possible but it may take extra charges. Flights are also available.

Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu, airport (1,345m)

The first day as you arrive at Kathmandu you will be received from airport by our company representative and transfer to the hotel with Bed & Breakfast plan.

Day 02: Pre-trip meeting and Sightseeing the heritage of Kathmandu Valley

The very next day after you arrive to Nepal our company representative will take you to various renowned places of Kathmandu like Boudhanath, Bhaktapur durbar square, Kathmandu durbar square and many more for sightseeing. The sightseeing will help you to understand the ancient culture and tradition of Kathmandu Valley. After the completion of sightseeing we will gather together for planning about our trek for the days ahead.

Day 03: Drive to Pokhara by tourist Bus

As per the planning, on day third we will departure from Kathmandu to Pokhara by tourist bus. It will take 6 to 7 hours of drive which is really an exciting bus drive as you will see various beautiful places that are naturally rich and culturally affluent. The rivers, forest, natural vegetation and others are the prominent features of the places that we are going to pass by during our drive. As we will reach Pokhara our trek guide will transfer you to hotel of three star categories.

Day 04: Sightseeing in Pokhara City

At day four we will visit various beautiful places of Pokhara like David fall, Mahindra cave and Seti gorge for sightseeing. After sightseeing we back to hotel for rest and dinner.

Day 05: Drive to Nayapul 2 hours by private vehicle and trek from Nayapul to Ulleri

Then at day five there will be a private vehicle standby to take you to Nayapul from Pokhara. This will take two hours of drive. Then from Nayapul we will walk 4 to 5 hours to reach Ulleri. During our trek to Ulleri we will pass through various local villages which are culturally rich and ancient. The villages that come across have a plenty of guesthouse and tea shops. We hike from beautiful village Birethanti to Hile then the small river will accompany us to hot climate of Tikhedhunga. The Trail then steeps us to Ulleri. Then our guide will take you to guest house.

Day 06:- Trek from Ullieri to Ghorepani

Then we will walk about 5 to six hours from Ullieri to Ghorepani. The trail is narrower so the passing of donkeys may hurdle our walk. We also have to cross the Rhododendron forest to reach Ghorepani. Ghorepani is a heavenly place from where the extraordinary of view of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri can be seen.

Day 07: Early Morning hike to Poon hill and trek to Tadapani

Day four will bring us more excitement in our journey. We will wake up early morning and headed to Poon hill. It will take one to two hours of walk. Poon hill is an amazing place situated at an altitude of 3210 meters from where the spectacular view of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna can be seen. After that we will leave Poon hill and descend to Ghorepani. At Ghorepani we will have breakfast and proceed to Tadapani. We will walk at least 6 to 7 hours at the day 7. At Tadapani we will stay at guesthouse.

Day 08:- Trek from Tadapani to Ghandruk (1,900m) 3 hrs walking

From Tadapani we will incline ourselves down to from Tadapani passing forest to Ghandruk. Ghandruk is a culturally and naturally rich place at an altitude of 1900 meters. It is renowned for the settlement of the indigenous Gurung people. We can learn about the language, culture, customs and life style of Gurung people. From Ghandruk we can also view the beautiful scenery of Annapurna South, Annapurna III, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna and Fishtail. Overnight at guest house.

Day 09:- Trek from Ghandruk to Nayapul and drive back to Pokhara

Then next day we will walk to Nayapul from Ghandruk. On the way to Nayapul we come across to Modhi River. As we reach Swali bazaar we have lunch. Then we will gear ourselves up to reach Nayapul. Then at Nayapul the private vehicle will drive us to Pokhara. At Pokhara we will stay at hotel.

Day 10: Sightseeing in Pokhara City

At day ten we will visit various beautiful places of Pokhara like David fall, Mahindra cave and Seti gorge for sightseeing. After sightseeing we back to hotel for rest and dinner.

Day 11: Drive back to Kathmandu

Then at day 11 it’s time to say goodbye to Pokhara. From Pokhara after having a breakfast we will drive back to Kathmandu. As we reach to Kathmandu our trekking guide will take you to the hotel. At Kathmandu the company will organize a farewell dinner for you.

Day 12: Transfer to international airport for your final departure

At day 12 our company representative will transfer you to Tribhuvan airport for you final departure

Climbing peak or trekking peak is an easy peak whose summit can be reached within 1 or 2 days. Its height ranges 6000 m plus. Some trekking peaks are Island Peak, Yala Peak, and Mera Peak.

Your travel insurance company must provide you Helicopter Evacuation Service. Normally, it will cost you up to US $5000 in Nepal. If you are coming to Nepal for climbing then you must do climbing insurance in your country as well. Carefully check the terms and conditions of your insurance company, especially what they cover during trekking and climbing.

US $ 20 a day is enough to buy a bottle of mineral water, tea, coffee and so on in the remote Himalayan Region.

The trekking guides of Access the Asia are well - trained in the first aid; they also carry the first aid box and do the necessary treatment for you.
